A trip to the Cape Verde Islands seems to have paid off for Lithuanian contester Jurgis Ignotas LY2CY, as he holds the overall single operator lead in the 2008 CQ WPX CW Contest. The low power leader is Yuri Onipko VE3DZ, who operated from the VP9GE QTH on Bermuda. Meanwhile, CT9M leads all the multi-op entries, as there are tight races for various titles in the US and Europe.

Contesting From A War Zone in WAE CW
The plan was pretty simple for UU4JMG and UU0JM, fly from Ukraine to the Republic of Georgia for the WAE CW contest and operate from 4L4WW. But as the contest began, the story wasn't the WAE battle, but a real shooting war that erupted not far away between Russian and Georgia troops. Not only did the duo escape unharmed, but they have also posted the high claimed multi-op score as well in WAE CW.

After an active ARRL DX CW contest weekend that saw life in the high bands, the focus for contesters shifts back to Topband and 160 meters for the 2010 CQ 160 SSB Contest. Calls Renewed For RA3CO DQ In 2008 CQ WW SSB
The Colombian government has formally stated that no license or authorization for operation was ever issued to Russian contester Dimitri Kryukov RA3CO, raising fresh questions about the legality of his CQ WW contest efforts in that country in 2007 and 2008, and prompting renewed calls by a group of HK hams for his contest disqualification.
