In one of the most sweeping series of DQ decisions ever issued for a CQ WW DX contest, five multi-ops were disqualified from the 2008 CQ WW DX SSB Contest according to published results released last week. The DQ's included D4C, E7DX, 9A1P, 9A7A and UU7J, all for violations of the 10 minute band change rule in Multi-Single.

In the days following the recent earthquakes in Haiti, the ARRL has received reports and inquiries about non-amateur stations transmitting on several amateur frequencies when assisting with disaster relief efforts in Haiti. The questions focus on the legality of such operations on the amateur bands.
No Retreat on CQ WW Contest Cheating Crackdown
After a two year cheating crackdown that has won wide support in the worldwide contesting community, organizers of the CQ WW contest are making clear that their new penalty system is here to stay. "If you submit a very competitive log, you can count on it being checked in detail," said CQ WW Director Bob Cox K3EST.

Adding on the final results of the 2007 WAE SSB, IARU and CQ WPX SSB, a radio-sport.net review shows there is one new WRTC qualifying leader in the US, as WD5K took over the top spot in NA #3.
