Back To Topband for CQ 160 Meter SSB Contest
After a big weekend on all HF contest bands for the ARRL DX CW contest, this weekend brings a focus on 160 meters, with the 2011 running of the CQ 160 SSB Contest. The big question will be, what does the sun have in store for this Topband test? The signs from ARRL CW show that there could be a good bit of trans-Atlantic and Pacific DX.

Expanded Assisted CQ WW Category Grabs More Attention
The "new" Assisted categories in CQ WW have already attracted more interest, as contest organizers hope they have zeroed in on new ways to stimulate even more worldwide competition in the biggest amateur radio contests of the year. In CQ WW SSB, entries in Low Power Assisted are up more than 50% over 2009, and the scores are up even more.

Records Fall Worldwide in 2009 CQ WPX CW
Despite a year that has so far seen historically low levels of sunspot activity and continued depressed conditions on 10 and 15 meters, the CQ WPX CW contest record books could get a significant update after this year's final scores are tallied. As of now, the Single Op leader is Valery Komarov RD3AF, who might just set a World record from his operation at EF8M.
