Another USA East Coast Battle In 2009 CQ WW SSB
After two straight USA Single Operator High Power victories, Randy Thompson K5ZD will not be going for three in a row in 2009, making the 2009 CQ WW SSB Contest in the US a likely shootout of top stations in New England and along the East Coast. Thompson instead will host W1UE, as W1UE, K1DG, K1LZ, NN3W, K3CR and others battle for top SOAB HP honors in the US.

2010 Russia WRTC Entry Deadline Looms On October 1
If you have dreams of grabbing one of the Team Leader slots for the 2010 World Radiosport Team Championships in Russia, then you better act fast, because the deadline for submitting your entry is on October 1. Haiti earthquake: reminder that frequencies are still in use

IARU Official Blasts Contesters For Out of Band Operations
In an unusually public criticism of contesters by a top IARU official, the President of IARU Region I blasted the conduct of some contesters in the recent 2010 CQ 160 SSB Contest, saying a number of stations from Europe and Africa were making contacts on frequencies not allocated to their countries, raising the specter of possible contest disqualifications.

G4PIQ, UA9AM Win 2008 WAE DX SSB Titles
With extra interest because of qualifying for the 2009 World Radiosport Team Championships, Andy Cook G4PIQ helped his bid for the WRTC by winning top European honors in the 2008 WAE SSB Contest. The overall leading single op score went to Yuri Kurinyi UA9AM. Check out the top scores and how it shakes up the WRTC.

WPX SSB Arrives With Reminder Of Cheating Crackdown
As the bands come alive this weekend for the CQ WPX SSB Contest, there's fresh evidence from the results of the 2010 WPX SSB of the ongoing crackdown by contest sponsors on cheating within the ham radio contest community. Jim Sullivan W7EJ is the defending WPX SSB champ in 2011, as he set a new Single Operator record last year from CN2R in Morocco, while Team DR1A set a new record for most prefixes.
