After several weeks of hopeful sunspot numbers since the CQ WW SSB test, the sun went quiet in the days leading up to the 2009 CQ WW CW Contest, but that didn't stop another very active CQ WW CW test from filling up the bands this past weekend. CQ WW SSB Disqualifies HK3RA/RA3CO Contest Entry
With the Colombian government formally stating that no license or authorization for operation was ever issued to Russian contester Dimitri Kryukov RA3CO, the CQ WW Contest Committee has disqualified his Top Ten entry from last year's CQ WW SSB contest, labeling the HK3RA operation as "illegal."

2014 WRTC Qualifying Resumes With NAQP CW
Qualifying for the 2014 World Radiosport Team Championship gets off to a fast start in the New Year, as the CW leg of the North American QSO Party comes this weekend, launching a busy schedule of WRTC qualifying in 2011. For hams in North America, NAQP CW is followed next weekend by NAQP SSB, both of which are worth 800 WRTC qualifying points.

Records Fall Worldwide in 2009 CQ WPX CW
Despite a year that has so far seen historically low levels of sunspot activity and continued depressed conditions on 10 and 15 meters, the CQ WPX CW contest record books could get a significant update after this year's final scores are tallied. As of now, the Single Op leader is Valery Komarov RD3AF, who might just set a World record from his operation at EF8M.
